3. GMC Sierra
The big Sierra pickups from GMC are no more and no less than twins of the Silverado, except for some distinct design elements and finishes. Their towing capacities are thus nearly identical to the Chevy products, with a maximum of 12,500 lbs with the 6.2L V8 and 8-speed automatic. Mirroring the Silverado, the GMC Sierra will soon launch in a new edition with a full redesigned outer shell, which this time should diverge more from the Chevrolet model. When it hits showrooms more will be known about its maximum pulling abilities. We do know that one available engine will be the 3.0L 6-cylinder turbo-diesel Duramax, twinned with a 10-speed automatic transmission. At the same time we expect the most powerful configuration for pulling big caravans should be the 6.2L V8 with 10-speed automatic. Here again, if your trailer is of the monstrously large kind, go for the HD 2500 or HD 3500.
