2. Chevrolet Silverado
The closest rival to the Ford F-150 is undeniably the Chevrolet Silverado. Also available with several different engine options, it can haul up to 12,500 lbs depending on the version chosen, as long as you take the 6.2L V8 engine and 8-speed automatic transmission. Keep in mind that Chevy is preparing to introduce a new edition of the Silverado pickup, which will as an option come with an all-new Duramax turbodiesel inline-6 with 10-speed automatic transmission; we think this is a candidate to shake things up in the segment. We’ll know more about its towing abilities when it hits the market. Here, as with the Ford pickups, if you want more pulling power than the Class 1 Silverado 1500 can give you, you have to go commercial-grade (HD 2500 and HD 3500).
