What if your Hyundai became a pocket rocket? You think I'm kidding, or that I must have inhaled too much greenhouse gas? Well, guess again. This "dream" could become reality sooner than you can imagine.

Hyundai Accent SR and Tiburon

Indeed, the Korean automaker recently unveiled a line of performance parts aimed at enhancing the power, sound effects and styling of its cars. The menu offers countless possibilities and a noteworthy upgrade.

Let's make things clear: Hyundai definitely targets younger buyers, namely tuning enthusiasts. But hold on -- we're not talking about mere aero kits that are "all show and no go". The goal is to help drivers get the most out of their cars while spending the least amount of money possible.

Just to wet our whistles, Hyundai invited journalists to test a little Accent SR that is equally dominant on the road and on the track. Our colleague and former open-wheel racer, Bertrand Godin, drove the car on the Dunnville racetrack (Ontario) and was highly impressed. Of course, the powertrain remains unchanged and still delivers 110 horsepower. But thanks to new SR-type air intakes, this sub-compact Accent is now able to breathe more easily.

Also in the mix are sport-tuned suspensions and a few other upgrades such as lower side body skirts and ABS brakes. The result is a small kart with incredible handling that surprises by offering predictable yet slightly aggressive road manners (it's still an Accent, after all, not a large tourer).
