Ford's now familiar bar-type grille is taken to an even bolder level on the new F-150, and it truly suits the "Ford Tough" image, as do the more aggressive fender arches and the new styled decals.
The Platinum is now the top of the line F-150. |
Among its features, the rear tailgate step from the Super Duty is now a permanent feature on the F-150. Ford has also added a useful kick-up side step (optional on all 7.5- and 8.5-ft beds), and power running boards are also available, as is a clever fold-away tail bed extender.
Inside, 6 inches (152 mm) have been added to the rear passenger area of the SuperCrew, allowing for more legroom. Ford's Sync system will also be available in the F-150 lineup.
Also on display is the Explorer America, which hosts Ford's new EcoBoost engine technology and is a small clue of what the next production Explorer might look like. Engine choices that benefit from EcoBoost are a 275-hp 2.0-liter 4-cylinder or a 3.5-liter V6 with about 340 horsepower. Both engines are handled by a 6-speed automatic transmission.
