It has confirmed that British driver Jenson Button will have to serve a drive-through penalty during Sunday’s Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal.
The McLaren-Honda Formula 1 team explained that the penalty was a consequence of having been forced to change some components of the Honda V6 power unit on Saturday night.

Button had stopped in the final, FP3 practice session with an ERS-related failure.
On Sunday morning, the British team clarified that Button’s MP4-30 was being fitted with a new MGU-H and turbo – which are the 5th units to have been used this season.
That means Button must serve a drive-through penalty during the first 3 laps of the 70-lap race. Button is unable to take a regulation grid penalty because he is already starting from 20th and last position.
