The 2015 Volvo XC90 recently earned a 5-star rating in crash tests performed by the Euro NCAP. It also became the first vehicle to achieve a 100% score in the autonomous emergency braking (AEB) car-to-car rear-end tests.

The new XC90 comes standard with AEB, adaptive cruise control, electronic stability and traction control, lane keeping assist, and a seat belt reminder.
Other XC90 highlights include:

  • 97% score for adult protection;
  • 87% score for child protection;
  • 72% score for pedestrian protection.

The Audi Q7 also received a 5-star rating from the Euro NCAP after posting crash scores of 94%, 88%, 70%, and 76%, respectively. It actually earned the "Euro NCAP Advanced" reward for the multi-collision brake assist system and for the Audi pre-sense basic system which tensions the seatbelt and closes the windows and sunroof before an imminent collision.

In North America, the NHTSA and IIHS have yet to publish their results for both the Volvo XC90 and the Audi Q7.
