BMW Vision M next
In the wake of BMW announcing the end of production of its eco-friendly i8 sports car, the German automaker presents the Vision M next, which is still at the concept stage but which opens up the possibility of a future sports car running on a plug-in hybrid engine.
The understated styling pays homage to the sports cars of the brand's past, for instance the famed M1. Inside, the atmosphere is futuristic with laser optics that seem to have come straight out of a Star Wars movie.
For now, the engine lurking within the prototype is a 2.0L turbocharged 4-cylinder combined with two electric motors. This configuration delivers 600 hp with an all-electric range estimated at 300 km. For the moment, BMW has not confirmed whether this concept will result in a production model.
