For those days where you've got nothing to do...
We auto journos have a great job, at least on the surface: We get to test drive just about everything new under the sun for a week at a time. We do our reviews and you guys read through'em to help you buy your next car or truck or just for the fun of it.

Sometimes, words aren't enough. This is why I've put together this short list of vehicles you need to take for a short spin to find out for yourself. These are all attainable cars and trucks and some on this list may surprise you.

There are tonnes of cars out there that are more fun to drive such as the 5.0 Ford Mustang GT or the turbocharged Hyundai Sonata, but this list really demonstrates how far certain categories have come since you last bought a new car.

Just do it!

#1 Nissan Juke

Funky with a turbocharged 1.6L engine, the Juke drives nothing like it looks. Be prepared to have your expectations crushed!

#2 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Rude and crude, a Jeep? Not this Grand Cherokee baby! Smooth, refined and handsome, this generation GC may prove to be the most popular ever. A best pick from Auto123.com

#3 Kia Sportage

A very competent and stylish example from a very competitive segment. Our best pick and one of my favourites overall for 2011. Yes, it is that good!

#4 Chevrolet Cruze

Forget about cheap fleet-destined compact GM cars. The Cruze raises the bar where North American small cars have never been. One of our best picks.

#5 Honda CR-Z

Fun, economical and oh-so begging to be modified, the CR-Z is a “green” blast to drive! Sporting an appealing bodyshell, it is our favourite green car for 2011.
