The new Subaru Global Platform, which will underpin the company’s next-generation vehicles, was unveiled today in Japan by Fuji Heavy Industries. It’s one of the six key components of its mid-term management vision, called “Prominence 2020.”
Here are some of the highlights of the Subaru Global Platform:
- Single design concept for development of all models, adaptable to electrification in the future;
- Built in accordance with the world’s highest levels of safety;
- Centre of gravity is five millimetres lower while impact energy absorption is improved by 40% over present models.
Production of these next-generation Subaru vehicles will begin at the end of the year with the all-new Impreza, which was previewed by the Subaru Impreza 5-Door Concept at the 2015 Tokyo Auto Show.
