OSHAWA, ON — For the fourth consecutive year, Saturn Canada is offering five scholarships of $1,500 each to Canadian female post- secondary students who demonstrate outstanding achievements.

Female students in Canadian universities, colleges or CEGEPs have the opportunity to submit applications to Saturn Canada in a 500-word essay, outlining their achievements in academics and their contributions in such fields as business, arts and science, athletics and/or community involvement.

Eric LeBlanc, Advertising and Promotions Manager, Saturn Canada, said, "We received over 200 excellent submissions last year and it was extremely difficult to narrow them down to what we considered to be the best five."

"We regard the Saturn Commitment to Excellence Award program as an outstanding example of how Saturn sincerely tries to make a difference in the communities in which we work and live. We are proud to support female students across Canada with the Commitment to Excellence Award and to offer encouragement to potential leaders of the future," he added.

University of Calgary student Nancy Kang, one of the 2000 award recipients, said, "It was delightful to see that Saturn is interested in helping female students and that they do care about the future of students in all disciplines across Canada. The Commitment to Excellence scholarship helped me with my tuition for my first year of studies in communications and culture."
