"There is nothing soft about this soft top", says Porsche.
Next September, the 911 Turbo Cabriolet will be available with a light, three-layer soft top that can be opened or closed at speeds up to 48 km/h, and the whole process takes 20 seconds.
Power comes from the same 3.6-liter, twin-turbo flat-6 as the Turbo coupe, and delivers 480 horsepower as well as 460 lb-ft of torque. An optional Sport Chrono Turbo package provides an overboost function and momentarily raises peak torque to 505 lb-ft. All-wheel drive is standard.
The 911 Turbo Cabriolet is said to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 3.8 seconds with the manual transmission or 3.5 with the optional Tiptronic S gearbox. Top speed is 193 mph (309 km/h) on both versions.
The 2+2 seater includes hand-stitched leather, a Bose surround sound system, 19-inch two-tone wheel and Porsche's PCM entertainment and navigation system. The car also gets 6 airbags and full rollover protection.
Pricing for the 911 Turbo Cabriolet should begin at around $190,000.
