Volkswagen's latest offering is called the Tiguan and it's now available at Canadian dealerships. As the German automaker's first foray into the compact SUV segment, the Tiguan is available in either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive configurations. Both are powered by a 2.0L 4-cylinder turbocharged engine mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission. A manual gearbox is only available with the Tiguan FWD, which starts at $27,575.

The Tiguan offers an impressive list of standard features: a fully-independent suspension, 16-inch alloy wheels, fog lights, air conditioning, cruise control, heated power outside mirrors, front, front-side and side curtain airbags, remote locking with anti-theft alarm, a tilt/telescopic steering wheel, an 8-speaker audio system as well as Electronic Stability Program (ESP).

The vehicle is manufactured exclusively at Volkswagen's Wolfsburg assembly plant, in Germany. Four different models are offered to buyers, including Trendline ($27,575), Trendline 4MOTION ($30,975), Comfortline 4MOTION ($33,975) and Highline 4MOTION ($38,375).

The automaker promises an extremely safe SUV with excellent driving dynamics, a smooth ride and remarkable fit and finish that will appeal to customers.
