Andrew RangerĀ  set a new NASCAR Canadian Tire track record at Circuit ICAR on his way of earning pole position for this Sunday's Jiffy Lube 100 presented by Snap-On.

Ranger clocked his run at 1 minute, 35.938 seconds around the 2.113-mile airport road-course for an average speed of 79.289 mph.

For the Roxton Pond,Qc native, it was a 12th career pole -- and first since Aug. 2011 -- tying him with JR Fitzpatrick for the series record. It also broke Alex Tagliani's track mark of 1:36.499 (78.828) set in the inaugural event in 2011.

JR Fitzpatrick qualified sixth, followed by Jason Hathaway, Kerry Micks, DJ Kennington and Elie Arseneau.

Kennington enters Sunday's race with a one-point lead on Hathaway, three over Lapcevich and five over Dumoulin.

The Jiffy Lube 100 presented by Snap-On is slated to take the green flag at 1:30 p.m.
