Finally, GITI Tire is said to be the only Chinese tire manufacturer to receive the U.S. ''SmartWay'' certification when it comes to low-rolling resistance tires for heavyweight trucks. Given to GSL213 FS and GT669+ FS truck tires, this standard confirms that the tires help reduce GHG emissions and improve fuel efficiency by 3 percent or more over comparable tires from the top competitors.

The SmartWay certification is part of a long tradition of environmental initiatives at GITI Tire. The manufacturer made a commitment to save a million acres of virgin forest in the Batang Gadis national park and Batang Toru area on Sumatra Island. These parks boast some of the most fragile ecosystems on the planet with more than 400 animal species, two of which (Sumatra tiger and orangutan) are threatened by massive deforestation.
That's why GITI Tire is a member of Conservation International (CI), an American-based, non-profit organization dedicated to environmental protection. It also takes part in reconstruction efforts in the areas devastated by the 2005 tsunami.
Through advanced R&D, executives look for ways to reduce our carbon footprint, such as production lines that don't use aroma oils and low-rolling resistance tires that increase mileage.
