Corrosion issues and unsafe seatback frames are prompting Ford to recall more than 434,000 vehicles in North America.
First, 385,762 Ford Escape SUVs from the 2001-2004 model years (including around 37,000 in Canada) suffer from subframes that can rust, allowing a control arm to separate and affect steering ability.
The second recall targets 48,950 Ford Fusion, Escape, C-MAX and Lincoln MKZ vehicles from 2013-2014 (including 4,744 in Canada). It appears the seatback frames weren't welded properly, so dealers will have to replace them.
