The upcoming Ford C-MAX Hybrid and C-MAX Energi plug-in hybrid will prove more fuel-efficient than the highly regarded Toyota Prius, the company promises.
The C-MAX Energi is expected to deliver a better fuel economy equivalent in electric mode than the Toyota Prius plug-in hybrid with over 800 kilometres of total driving range. That, by the way, also exceeds the Chevrolet Volt's performance.
Ford also claims that the C-MAX Energi plug-in hybrid will charge twice as fast as the Nissan LEAF using a 240V power outlet.
Not to be denied, the Ford C-MAX Hybrid will reportedly achieve class-leading fuel economy, trumping the Toyota Prius v with ratings of 4.3L/100km (city) and 4.8L/100km (highway).
Both the Ford C-MAX Hybrid and C-MAX Energi plug-in hybrid will hit the market in 2012, so we'll soon find out if the Blue Oval can attract more customers in the increasingly competitive green car segment.
Prepare for a feisty battle!
