On Thursday, Ford announced three new safety recalls in North America. Affected models include the Explorer, Transit, F-650, F-750, and Lincoln MKC.

The first recall involves 37,905 low-roof Ford Transit vans from the 2015-2016 model years that were built between March 12th, 2014 and March 18th, 2016. There are 839 of them in Canada. It is possible the side-curtain airbags are positioned incorrectly on either or both sides of the vehicle, which may influence their performance and increase the risk of injury in a crash.

The second recall targets 5,536 Ford Explorer (2016) and Lincoln MKC (2015-2016) SUVs built between November 25th, 2013 and January 28th, 2016. The engine block design, coupled with the particular block heater installed in these vehicles, causes the unit to be susceptible to overheating when the vehicle is parked and the block heater is plugged in. Ford is aware of two reports of underhood fires in Canada, fortunately with no injuries.

The third recall announced this week affects 4,764 Ford F-650 and F-750 trucks including 110 in Canada. Their parking brake connector clips may not have been manufactured to the correct specifications and could break, resulting in unintended vehicle movement and increased risk of injury.

Ford dealers will inspect and, if necessary, replace or repair the faulty components.
