Teaser image comes ahead of reveal in Beijing this month

The Beijing Motor Show is just around the corner, and right on cue we’re starting to see teaser images of new models being released to puff up interest in their pending launches. Lexus has just published a first image of its next-generation ES sedan. The image actually reveals only a section of the car’s front grille, which we now know is of a large spindle variety – hardly surprising given that this has become a trademark of Toyota’s luxury division. The new grille features prominent vertical bands, while the previous model’s grille had horizontal strips.

In its brief press release, Lexus told consumers they should “Expect the unexpected”. The company added that the “all-new Lexus vehicle aims to radically transform the driving experience for luxury consumers all over the world."

One thing is certain: this new ES will benefit from Toyota’s new global platform (TNGA), an architecture that has proven its mettle in the company’s products. And as we’re talking Lexus here, we expect that the ES will get the latest and best version of the TNGA, bringing some needed spice to the model.

We also expect the vehicle to be offered with both a conventional and a hybrid powertrain.

We’ll see more than just the snout of the new Lexus ES very soon, as it will get its official premiere at the Beijing Motor Show at the end of April.
