Only 250 will be produced per year, and 1,000 in all

Delivery of the all-new 2017 Ford GT to Canadian customers began with a flourish yesterday. Richard L’Abbe, an entrepreneur and racing enthusiast from the Ottawa region, became one of the first Canadian customers to take possession of the American supercar during a ceremony at the Calabogie Motorsport Park in Ontario.

Ford will be manufacturing only 1,000 units of the Ford GT (250 per year) at the new Multimatic plant in Markham, Ontario. But while its production run may be limited, Ford intends to bring the technological expertise gained in developing the GT to bear when designing and engineering future cars, SUVs and trucks, including electrified models.

Powered by a new 3.5L EcoBoost V6 engine generating 647 hp and 550 lb-ft of torque, the 2017 Ford GT is the fastest production car ever produced by the American automotive giant. Able to attain a top speed of 346 km/h, the car laid down faster lap times than both the McLaren 675LT and Ferrari 458 Speciale on the track at Calabogie.
