The new Sprinter is back, well it never left but this time, and it is bigger than ever. "The all-new 2007 Dodge Sprinter raises the bar and sets a new commercial standard in the full-size van market," said George Murphy, Senior Vice President - Global Brand Marketing, Chrysler Group. The new Sprinter is 2 inches (5 cm) wider, 11 inches (28 cm) taller inside and 13 inches (33 cm) taller outside, 30 inches (76 cm) longer and cargo volume has increased to 127 cubic feet (3 596 litres).

Other than the revised exterior styling and new interior complete with 6 air bags, the Sprinter will, for the first time, be offered with a choice of engines. The selection will reside between a 3.0L diesel V6 which puts out 154 hp and 280 lb/ft and a 3.5L V6 that generates 254 hp and 250 lb/ft of torque. Both powerplants will be mated to a 5-speed automatic transmission.

The Sprinter will be available in three vehicle lengths (233, 273 and 289 inches) that will intermingle with two new wheelbases of either 144 inches or 170 inches. The 170-inch one will be extendable by 15 inches through a longer rear overhang. On top of it all, it will also boast three interior roof height options: standard (65 inches), high (76 inches) and new mega (84 inches). At 7 feet of clearance, the Sprinter will be the tallest on the market.

The new Sprinter will arrive this spring in « boxes » at the Port of Halifax, be assembled in Halifax and then delivered to dealerships. Canadian prices have yet to be announced.
