Geely Holding Group has set aside 3.6 million RMB (or about $58,000) as reward money for the winner of their upcoming logo-design contest. The contest was announced at a news conference in Beijing yesterday.

The new logo is an important image for the company, who realizes that China accounts for less than 10 percent of worldwide auto sales, and is now paving the way for expansion. They're setting up a corporate culture, branding and marketing efforts, and a management team to lead them onto the global stage.

With all of this work on the go, something as simple as a logo might be overlooked. But with Geely eyeing the international market, it's appropriate that they seek domestic and international input in contributing to their image.

The logo criteria states that it must be symbolically representative, artistic and practical, and capable of embodying the corporate concept of the company. The logo must also be easy to remember and easy to reproduce.

The logo which best meets these criteria will be chosen by a group of adjudicators after a four-phase selection process, by which 100 finalists are narrowed down to the best entry.

The lucky winner will have his work displayed on the front and rear of every one of the two million cars that Geely plans to sell by 2015.
