We love to speculate as much as the next guy sitting in some fancy office on Wall Street. The big difference is that we tend to have a better idea of what we are doing, plus our guesses won't have you living in the street or working at McDonald's to make ends meet during your retirement.

This list has been put together based on experience, deeply considered guess-timates and an opaque crystal ball... seriously. This register features some no-brainers and other cars that, based on US sales numbers, are probably costing the manufacturer more money to build and ship than they can possibly hope to make up for.

Some of these vehicles may return in the future but most will see their final days in the next 18 months or so. In most situations, their demise is written in the sky. Some are generating such poor sales that it can only be a matter of time before the end is officially announced.

As you scroll through the gallery, you'll probably be surprised to see a few vehicles that are very good sellers. The reason why they are part of this hit list is because their manufacturers have decided to can badge engineering – duplicating models – in order to streamline production. Then, there's an entire make near the end. We can't imagine the North American automotive landscape without them but the business really is not good...
