Both the Audi R8 and Lamborghini Huracàn may get turbocharged variants of 5-cylinder engines, Audi technical director Ulrich Hackenberg and Lamborghini president Stephan Winkelmann hinted in their recent comments, Car and Driver reports.
Right now, the Audi R8 and Lamborghini Huracàn feature a 5.2L V10. However, since Asian tax laws make life difficult for large-displacement sports cars (above 2.0L, the tax jumps to 9% and continues on a linear scale to 40% for engines of 4.0L and larger), Hackenberg and Winkelmann have basically admitted that these cars would have to adopt a smaller, boosted engine to reach their sales targets, particularly in China.
