Three years after the 2013 launch of the first BMW i3, BMW has sold 100,000 electric and hybrid vehicles around the world. Of that total, some 60,000 are i3 models, while just over 10,000 are BMW i8s and another 30,000 are plug-in hybrid models from the manufacturer.

In all, seven electrified BMW models have been produced by the company for different markets. In addition, BMW recently announced a 2017 debut for a plug-in hybrid version of the MINI Countryman, as well as planning a plug-in i8 for 2018, a fully electric MINI in 2019, and a fully electric BMW X3 set for 2020. Farther on the horizon is an all-new electric model, the BMW iNEXT, still several years away.
