The new sound and the boost in power aside, the 3-cylinder-turbo Rogue is true to the Rogue that relied on the “old” 4-cylinder. Meaning the Rogue still focuses more on composed driving and optimal fuel economy over adrenaline rushes. For that kind of behavior, Nissan suggests you check out the new Z that debuts this year!
Lots of safety on board
The Rogue being such a family-friendly model, it's only natural - and reassuring - to see the Nissan Safety Shield 360 suite of safety features included, starting with the entry-level model. This suite houses systems like Intelligent Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, Blind Spot Alert, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Lane Departure Warning, High Beam Assist and Intelligent Rear Brake.
What's more, both rear seat alert and intelligent driver alert are standard on all trims. And since we're dealing with a Platinum trim here, the ProPILOT Assist driver assistance system is also included in the long list of equipment, which includes intelligent cruise control with Navi-Link technology.
The head-up display is also integrated into the dashboard, a welcome addition that means drivers are no longer forced to look down at the information screen behind the wheel.
The last word
In such a heavyweight segment like that of compact SUVs, manufacturers like Nissan have no choice but to constantly revise their formula. The addition of this turbocharged 3-cylinder engine is certainly welcome, but this change doesn't guarantee an increase in sales for the model, especially since the automaker doesn't have any electrified options among its engine choices. For that, EV buyers will have to be patient until the all-electric Ariya, expected before the end of the year, finally appears.
