Pros and Cons*
Pros

Its high level of performance, luxurious interior, efficient all-wheel-drive system, overall toughness and extensive list of standard equipment give a huge advantage to the 2013 Mercedes-Benz G 63 AMG over its competitors.

Cons
Reduced visibility, difficult access, and thirsty disposition combine to lower its desirability. What's more, the high centre of gravity and approximate steering seriously handicap the driving experience.

Price
The 2013 Mercedes-Benz G 63 AMG has a MSRP of $149,900. Standard equipment includes 20-inch wheels, stop/start technology, backup camera, multimedia interface, navigation system, power sunroof, heated front seats, bi-zone climate control, as well as a trailer-towing package.

Fuel Economy
In city driving, this behemoth consumes a whopping 17.5 L/100 km around the city and an estimated 13.4 L/100 km on the highway.

AMG package includes:
  • AMG transmission
  • DINAMICA roof headlining insert
  • Piano-lacquer finish steering wheel
  • Designo leather interior
  • 20-inch wheels
  • Red brake calipers
  • Fender skirts
  • Front bumper air-intake inlets
  • AMG sport exhaust with chrome tips
  • Auto-levelling pneumatic suspension
  • Rollover protection
  • ACTIVE CURVE shock absorbers
  • Ventilated and cross-drilled heavy-duty disc-brakes
  • 4-spoke sport steering-wheel with aluminum paddle-shifter and stainless-steel pedals
  • AMG body-skirt package
  • Exterior Styling

This full-size SUV is quite different in size and shape than the G 550 4MATIC. Longer and wider by 100 millimetres and lower by more than 10 millimetres, it weighs 20 kilos more. Its rugged, square shape brings to mind steamy jungles and distant safaris. The truck-like grille holds round headlights, which are complimented by a row of DEL lights. The high, flat hindquarters, and almost vertical windshield amplify its huge dimensions.

Drivetrain
A turbocharged 5.5 liter V8 propels this vehicle. It produces 536 hp and 560 lb-ft of torque. The fulltime all-wheel-drive 4MATIC is coupled to a 7-speed AMG SPEEDSHIFT PLUS 7G-TRONIC transmission.

Cargo Capacity
The luggage area holds 480 litres, and a total of 2,250 litres is possible with reclined rear seats.

Safety
The 2013 Mercedes-Benz G 63 AMG is equipped with six airbags, blind spot detection, Parktronic parking assist, and Distronic Plus adaptive speed control.
