This is what I meant when I said the car was “soft.” Why do I need lights to tell me when to shift? I can hear the i-VTEC kick in, as I should. Driving a car like the Si means you want that connection with your car. I heard my colleague’s i-VTEC kick in when I drove it. I didn't need a line of orange lights to tell me, I promise.
And the shifts felt so long compared to the previous gen's. It felt like an eternal journey from gear to gear: another non-sporty addition to the 2012 Honda Civic Si.
On the non-driving side, the 2012 Honda Civic Si sedan is actually a decent-size sedan with a good-size trunk and roomy back seats. As I had the sedan version, the back-seat access is great for kids and kiddy carriers, as well as friends and/or a heavy day of shopping. Overall, a practical, easy-on-gas vehicle.
With a starting price of just $25,990, the 2012 Honda Civic Si sedan is a good family sedan that has a bit of oomph under the hood. As far as being the sporty car it used to be? Don't get your hopes up. Instead, hold on to the memories or buy a used Si.
