So much good
There are no losers in this test. I know it sounds like a kindergarten thing to say, but it really stands true at the conclusion of the track portion of Comparo 2.0.
The 2013 Hyundai Genesis Coupe 2.0T R-Spec may have come in last, but when the sub $29k price tag is brought up, jaws drop. This is lots of car for that kind of coin. It may surprise you that the most expensive base-trim car in this test is the 5-door 2012 Volkswagen GTI at $30,375. All the others are below the $30k mark.
At this price, all of the cars are very well kitted out so there are no compromises to make here, including stability control. In every case, the system prevented real pleasure to be had. Thankfully, all of the cars were equipped with three-mode set-ups that presented a well-judged, midway point between fully on and off.
All of them have strong points that will fulfill the desires of any potential buyer, but ultimately the best track car was the FR-S.
Be sure to check out our Comparo 2.0 road test of these cars to get the whole story!
At the end of the week, as a group, we did sit down and vote on which car we would take home and call our own. The result was unanimous: The 2013 Subaru BRZ.
Notes:
All of the cars in this test scored high safety marks as they are all equipped with stability and traction control, as well as at least six air bags.
