Comfort and economy define Mercedes-Benz sport tourer
B200 is easy to see out of too, with fantastic visibility all around. If you look closely, you'll notice the downward swooping belt-line not only looks great but also makes it nearly possible to see the front wheels- so it's easy to maneuver in tight spaces, albeit for a slightly-too-large turning circle.

The wide glass surface provides a great all around visibility.

An easygoing character

It's easy to drive, park, move around, get into and out of, load up with gear and adjust to just about any chore. It's easy to feed too- as fuel mileage while running errands around town is about 9.8 L / 100km, and that drops down to just over 8 L / 100km cruising at a healthy rate down the highway or your nearest Autobahn on a road trip.

And what a great setting for a road trip it is. At highway speeds, nothing upsets the ride and the chassis happily absorbs most every blemish in the road without being noisy or unforgiving. There's a pleasant level of firmness dialed into the setup too, rendering the ride a well-struck balance between comfort and sport. It only becomes nervous and loud over the really rough stuff.

The steering could be a bit less over-assisted and under-enthusiastic, though it works adequately with the B200's laid back and easygoing character.

It's got acres of glass to let in the scenery too- especially when you order the sliding panoramic roof. You could use the pano-roof for stargazing at night (while parked!), or in the daytime to catch a tan while driving.

Got boost?
Driving the test car was the optional two-litre turbocharged four cylinder with 194 horsepower. That's hooked up to an optional CVT transmission with simulated manual mode that spins the front tires. A six-speed manual is standard on the B200 Turbo. If you like switching your own gears, the CVT's no reason to quit.

The turbo and CVT are both technologies that work together to create power delivery of unparalleled smoothness. The B200 can work the boost and 'gearing' to increase speed without increasing engine revs. The resulting power delivery happens with no shifting and no steps- simply gliding along in peace and quiet.

The interior is well assembled.
