2003 Chrysler Sebring Convertible Limited - There's a Reason So Many Are on the Road

Can buying a convertible in the Great White North ever be a sensible decision? Convertibles are supposed to be fun, exciting, summer-time toys, right?

What if there was a drop-top that could be fun, exciting, reliable, powerful, good on gas, comfortable for four adults and two sets of golf clubs, good in the snow, virtually leak proof and most importantly affordable? Sound impossible? I thought so too, until I drove Chrysler's Sebring Convertible. The Sebring is available in four trim levels, LX at $34,305, GTC at $34,515, LXi at $35,445 and the range-topping Limited at $38,035.

There are only three options available over and above the base price of my well equipped tester, the Limited, accepting the $35.00 smoker's package. A 6-disc in-dash CD changer at $455, heated front seats at $295 and a rare full-size spare tire and matching 16" chrome alloy wheel for only $210, plus freight at $850, air-conditioning tax at $100 and tire tax and lien registration, for a grand total of $39,980. That may sound a bit pricey, but try to find any other car with the same features and you'll end up spending a ton more. Factor in Chrysler's always-aggressive incentive programs, a whack of dealers to bargain with and you've got one attractive package.
